Help Mike and His Family Overcome Health Struggles

Hi everyone!

Some of you know my dad, Mike, from the neighborhood, the local theatre scene, or from me. He’s a caring father, an amazing artist, comedian, and one of the best guitar players. Over the past 3 years, my dad, and my mom, have been through a lot all while continuing to help and care for others. I want to help them get the support they need.

First, my dad found out he had bladder cancer, and went through a year of treatment. After he beat cancer and was healing, he found out he had cirrhosis and needed to go through more treatment. During that, my mom found out she had a brain tumor and had to go into emergency surgery and the recovery is still ongoing. My parents went back and forth taking care of each other all while not being able to work and barely qualifying for temporary disability.

My dad was placed on the donor list earlier this year for his liver, and received a liver transplant at the end of July this year. After years of invasive treatments and countless doctors appointments, he is still healing from surgery and trying to be strong for us. He’s been in and out of work for the past 3 years due to all his ailments and he is not going to be working for a while as he goes through the rejection period of his transplant.

I’m raising money for both of my parents who have spent the last years struggling. They are paying back medical bills and dealing with disability payments running out.

My parents are givers, and go above and beyond to take care of those they care about. My mom was a social worker for over 20 years dedicating her time to ensuring people received the support they needed. My father puts everyone’s needs ahead of his own and has been a loved member of the local theatre scene and an amazing guitar player in a band that played countless shows for San Diego.
