Help Mike and Connie Heal
Donation protected
This spring, my beloved brother Michael (Sanci) and his wife Connie (Buck) faced back to back traumas. On April 16, they learned that Mike’s blood cancer, which had been successfully treated with chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant in 2014/2015, had returned as leukemia. Two days later their daughter Olivia Bibby took her life in their home. There are no words to express the pain and loss of this tragedy.

Mike is currently at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton undergoing intensive chemotherapy to be followed by another stem cell transplant. Connie travels to the hospital daily, working her visits around the frequent grief counselling sessions that act as a lifeline in Mike’s absence.

These challenges could not have come at a worse time for them financially. Connie has only been able to work occasionally for the last two years due to a knee injury. For 35 years she has worked as a wardrobe supervisor in the film and television industry as a proud member of IATSE local 873. Mike had just returned to work in transport (IATSE union locals 873 and 667) after taking a 6 month break to help care for Olivia as her mental health declined. The costs for Olivia's funeral put them in the red. Mike has been in the hospital since June and the soonest he will be able to return to work will be March.
Here’s where we can help. Mike and Connie face a long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally. I’ve set a target of $100,000 to ease their financial stress so they can focus on healing.
Thanks for your support and please share with others.
Thanks
Laurie Sanci
