Help Mike aka Wixom & Pepe with Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Irene Frei (Olthoff), I am creating this GoFundMe for a close and dear friend of ours: Mike Wixom. Mike aka “Wixom” & “Pepe” was taken to the ER here in Coeur d’ Alene, ID by his beautiful, caring wife Charity, on Nov. 21, 2021. That day he was losing consciousness for unknown reason every 20-30 minutes. After a CT scan and MRI scan, an unknown mass was found on his brain. (Likely the source of headaches for Mike for at least 4 years now) A marrow biopsy showed an unidentified infection in his midbrain and the cerebral neural fluid. After being unable to identify the infection the neuro surgeons decided to perform an EVD procedure. This involved going into the brain through a hole drilled in the skull. A needle-like tube slowly suctions the cerebral fluid to be collected outside the body, while receiving antibiotics for the infection and steroids and anti-seizure medications to maintain minimal brain swelling. Mike spent 4 days in the ICU, with his wife by his side. All told, Mike has spent 19 days in Kootenai Health Hospital dealing with the brain infection and its side effects. Since being out Mike has been in and out of the ER ☹. The brain infection remains unidentified and the mass on his brain remains. This mass may be a tumor that will be laser targeted for treatment or removed surgically. Wixom remains in pretty good spirits, but it is taking a toll on the family. They have no insurance and has also been unable to open Pepe Caldo (their pizza business) for over 8 weeks now. Mike will not be able to physically work for what they believe will be at least six months while he goes to doctor visits. Many of you have asked how you can help? Well, I am asking if you can, to  donate to Mike’s fund, so his wife, son and himself do not have to worry about how the bills are going to be paid or where their next meal will come from. Any amount big or small will go straight to them to a

lleviate this burden. Mike’s only focus needs will be on getting stronger and better and his wife needs to assure he is staying calm and not overstressing. Charity also needs to get the business up and running and will be able to as soon as Mike relaxes. The world is on their shoulders right now and it is heavy.
