Help Mikal Simmons Get a Wheelchair-Accessible Van
Donation protected
On August 27th, 2024, 14-year-old Mikal Simmons was involved in a devastating motor vehicle accident that resulted in him being ejected 60 feet from the vehicle. He sustained multiple serious injuries, including a severe traumatic brain injury. Against all odds, Mikal has made remarkable progress—from a time when his survival was uncertain to now speaking and standing with assistance.
Mikal’s mother, Marda, decided to leave her job of 12 years to become his full-time caregiver. She has since completed extensive training to become a certified home health aide, ensuring Mikal receives the best possible care with the love only a mother can provide.
As Mikal continues to undergo intensive physical and occupational therapy and works toward returning to school, the family faces a critical need: reliable transportation. Their current vehicle, with nearly 260,000 miles, is not equipped for wheelchair accessibility and is no longer dependable.
We are asking for financial support to help purchase a wheelchair-accessible van that will provide safe, reliable transportation for Mikal’s ongoing care, therapy, and daily life. Your generosity can make a lasting impact on Mikal’s journey toward recovery and independence.
