Help Mikah Overcome Life-Threatening Pyometra
Donation protected
Mikah has been part of our family for 9 years, we've had her since she was a puppy. She's been by our side through many milestones in life. She's a sweet girl who enjoys camping, the outdoors and being with her family and her companion Koby.
A few day ago, we noticed something off with her. She wasn't her normal self full of energy, we saw a lifeless change in her eyes as she struggled to keep them open. A few days passed and she lost her appetite, wouldn't drink water and nestled away in her bed most of the day. Today she couldn't stop shaking and her heart wouldn't stop racing.
We took her to the vet this morning. After examination we were told that she has to go into an emergency surgery due to Pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection that occurs when bacteria and pus fill the uterus. If the cervix is closed, the uterus can rupture, spilling the infection into the abdominal cavity. This will be fatal and possibly cause kidney failure if left untreated. Pyometra is a serious medical condition that requires prompt treatment.
She is currently in the process of her surgery and will be in the hospital for a few days. Your support for Mikah during this difficult time is appreciated ♡
UPDATE: Mikah went through her surgery successfully. They were able to remove her infected ovaries & uterus, as well as the mammary tumor that formed after her last litter. She will be in recovery for the next few weeks (:
