Hallo allemaal,

Mijn naam is Linda en ik zamel geld in voor mijn vader, die onlangs de diagnose non-Hodgkin lymfoom heeft gekregen, specifiek een folliculair lymfoom, een type B-cel lymfoom in stadium IV, wat betekent dat het zich in een vergevorderd stadium bevindt en als 'hoog risico' wordt beschouwd. Deze vorm van lymfeklierkanker wordt vaak gekenmerkt door een langzaam verloop, maar in dit stadium is moeilijk te behandelen.

Momenteel wordt er een 'wait-and-see'-beleid gehanteerd, waarbij behandeling pas start wanneer de symptomen verergeren. Echter, er is een innovatieve behandeling beschikbaar: CAR-T-celtherapie. Deze therapie heeft veelbelovende resultaten laten zien bij patiënten met terugkerende of refractaire vormen van folliculair lymfoom. In een recente studie werd een objectieve responsratio van 95% waargenomen bij patiënten met folliculair lymfoom, waarvan velen een complete remissie bereikten.

Helaas wordt deze behandeling niet vergoed omdat mijn vader niet voldoet aan de strikte criteria die de zorgverzekeraar stelt. De kosten zijn aanzienlijk, maar deze therapie biedt de kans op een langer en kwalitatief beter leven voor mijn vader.

Mijn vader is een echte levensgenieter met een groot sociaal netwerk. Altijd positief, bereid anderen te helpen en gek op zijn kleinzoon. We willen niets liever dan dat hij nog vele jaren bij ons blijft. Het voelt oneerlijk dat financiële barrières zijn toegang tot deze potentiële levensreddende behandeling beperken.

Hello everyone,

My name is Linda, and I am raising funds for my father, who was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, specifically follicular lymphoma, a type of B-cell lymphoma at stage IV. This means his disease is in an advanced stage and classified as "high risk." This form of lymphoma is often characterized by a slow progression, but at this stage, it is difficult to treat.

Currently, a "wait-and-see" approach is being followed, meaning treatment will only begin when symptoms worsen. However, an innovative treatment is available: CAR-T cell therapy. This therapy has shown promising results in patients with recurrent or refractory forms of follicular lymphoma. Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by the insurance provider because my father does not meet the strict eligibility criteria. The costs are significant, but this therapy offers him the chance for a longer and better quality life.

My father is a true life enthusiast with a large social network. He is always positive, always willing to help others, and absolutely devoted to his grandson. More than anything, we want him to be with us for many more years. It feels unfair that financial barriers are preventing him from accessing this potentially life-saving treatment.
