Update 2: Januari 12th. Yes! 5 windows are placed! It took longer than expected, because mañana is not always mañana, but next month. However I am very happy with the results. Still lots to be done. Downstairs 2 doors and one more window and for upstairs, 7 windows and 2 doors.

Thanks for your donations! So far I have 23000 pesos, and that is almost enough for 5 windows! Next week the guys from Vidrieria Santa Rosa, will start to place them. Ofcourse I will take pictures and post.

Hallo allemaal, ik ben Alosja, yoga lerares in Oaxaca, Mexico sinds 2006. In januari 2022 begonnen met het bouwen van mijn droomhuis, vlakbij Oaxaca stad in Mexico. Oaxaca is een fantastisch mooi stadje in de bergen waar een hele interessante mix is van de indianencultuur met zijn rituelen en gewoontes, gemengd met het wat modernere Mexico. Denk aan de dag van de doden eind oktober, waar het leven wordt gevierd en de dierbaren overledenen worden herrinnert, met altaren en altijd lekker eten en drinken. De drank Mezcal, is de laatste jaren zeer populair geworden, er zijn uitstapjes naar de mezcal ¨palenques¨ waar je het hele proces kunt zien en natuurlijk heel veel verschillende soorten Mezcal kunt drinken. De markten zijn een feest voor oog en hart, de kleurenpracht van groente en fruit en ander waar, de verschillende eettentjes, de sfeer, geeft je het gevoel dat je intenser leeft en geniet. Rondom de stad zijn verschillende archeologische sites: Monte Alban, Mitla, Yagul, allemaal zijn ze de moeite waard om te bezoeken.

Zoals overal in de wereld zijn de materiaalkosten en de het arbeidsloon 30% gestegen. Waardoor het project nu veel duurder dan de begroting is. Er zijn nog 14 ramen, 5 deuren, een ecologisch rioleringssysteem (biodigestor) nodig en verf. Via deze fundraising hoop ik het sneller af te kunnen krijgen. Streefdatum oktober 2024.

De bovenste verdieping met eigen opgang: grote kamer, badkamer en dakterras is om te verhuren, het uitzicht is fenomenaal. Zonder hulp wordt het juni 2026. Maar af komt het sowieso! Dagelijks geef ik yogales en heb, zeker voor hier, een goed inkomen. Ik kijk er al naar uit gasten te verwelkomen en mijn liefde voor Oaxaca delen. Er staat natuurlijk wat tegen over!

Hello, my name is Alosja, yoga teacher in Oaxaca, Mexico since 2006. I started with building my dream house which is close to Oaxaca city, in January 2022

Oaxaca is a beautiful city in the mountains, where there is this amazing mix of the indigenous Indian culture together with the more modern Mexico. Every October there is the day of the dead, where life is celebrated, honoring the deceased with altars, delicious food and drink. Mezcal, the alcoholic beverage from Oaxaca, has become very popular. There are tours to the ´palenques¨ where you can see the whole process of how it is made, of course with lots of mezcal tasting. Food is very important in Mexican culture, apart from the markets, which are a feast for eyes and mouth, there are very good restaurants here. On Netflix there are documentaries about street food and some episodes about Oaxaca.

As in everywhere in the world, the cost of material and labour has risen 30%, so now to be able to finish the house, way more money than initially was planned, is needed. As I teach daily classes with succes, I have a steady income, so I will be able to finish this project. However with help, a lot sooner then doing it without financial support.

The top floor is for renting out, it has its own entrance, a big room with bathroom and a terrace. The view is amazing. The money will be used to buy 14 windows, 5 doors, an ecological sewage system (biodigestor) and paint. Hopefully I can welcome my guests around Octobre 2024, and share my enthusiasm and love for Oaxaca.
