Mihajlo (pronounced Me-Hi-Low) is an extremely sweet and lovable, energetic and charismatic, eight-year-old boy who is always a joy to be around. This past week, his family received devastating news that he has pediatric-type diffuse high-grade glioma (PDHGG,) which is an aggressive form of brain and nervous system cancer. He has already undergone emergency surgery to remove a tumor from his cerebellum, and he is currently being evaluated for areas of concern detected on his brain stem and spine. The current level of metastasis is still being determined, but the primary concern is that the cancer may have spread to other areas of his nervous system. To give him the best chance of survival, he will require expensive treatments, such as chemo/radiation therapy, and possibly other potential treatments, such as stem cell or proton therapy. The biggest problem is that not all of the treatment options are accessible where he and his family live. His parents, who haven't been working since they received this devastating news, likely have to relocate the family in search of the life-saving treatment that Mihajlo needs. The need to move quickly with this type of cancer is critical for his survival. As with all parents, Mihajlo’s mother and father intend on doing whatever is necessary. They would travel to the ends of the world to find the right treatment for their baby boy. Please help this family give Mihajlo a fighting chance.
