Help Miguel’s Family Stay Together and Thrive

My name is Amy Simmonds, and I’m reaching out to support a friend—Miguel—and his incredible family.

I met Miguel over 10 years ago, several years after they have immigrated from Guatemala with a dream: to build a better life for his wife and children. And he’s done just that—through learning English, very hard work, integrity, and service to others.

Miguel started his own business as a painter and is now a tradesman and woodworker. He’s the kind of person neighbors call first—whether it’s for flooring, kitchen and bathroom renovations, tile work, miscellaneous repairs, or employing and teaching others these trades. He runs a small business, pays his crews fairly, carries insurance, and has built a reputation rooted in trust and excellence.

He and his wife Maria own their home, pay taxes, and have raised four remarkable children, with 3 still living at home:

- Their son is a high school senior—an A student, talented musician in the school band, and future college applicant.

- Their daughter, a junior, excels academically, is so thoughtful and kind, and helps her mom with her cleaning business to save money for her future.

- Their youngest is just six years old.

Several weeks ago, Miguel was arrested. His wife is a legal resident, and their children are U.S. citizens. With Miguel gone, the family is struggling to stay afloat. Maria continues working tirelessly, but the loss of Miguel’s income and presence has left a painful void.

They’ve hired an immigration attorney and are doing everything they can to reunite their family. But they need help—now.
