Help Miguel’s Baby Get Life-Saving Surgery in Mozambique
Over a year ago, I came across a YouTube video by Indigo Traveller highlighting life in Maputo, Mozambique. At the 19:36 mark, a man named Miguel briefly shared his story. Something about him stuck with me.
While the video moved many, as far as I know, I was the only one who reached out when Nick the Indigo Traveler creator flashed his Instagram on the screen.
Since then, it’s been quite a journey. I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside Miguel, supporting his passion for music, helping him explore business opportunities, providing a laptop for remote work, and even assisting him in rebuilding his home. Today, Miguel is learning how to freelance on Upwork so he can build a sustainable future for his family. Because of this support, he’s been able to send his kids to school in proper uniforms, rebuild his family’s home, and create a better path forward.
But right now, he’s facing something no parent should face alone.
His infant son has a severe testicular hernia. It’s been months, and they haven’t been able to afford the medical help needed. The surgery and post-op recovery will cost around 120,000 Mozambican Metical (roughly $1,900 USD), far more than he could ever afford on his own.
So I’m opening this up. If this story moves you, as it did me, I invite you to help give this little boy a chance at a healthy life and give this dad the hope he’s fighting for every day.
No donation is too small. Every bit helps.
Let’s come together to cover this surgery, ease their burden, and help this family keep moving forward.
