Help Miguel Kick Leukemia's Ass

Donation protected
At 4am on December 11th, 2018 Miguel went to the Swedish Hospital near his house. After a few blood tests he was diagnosed with Leukemia and was admited to the oncology wing of a Seattle hospital. More tests revealed that he has AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) with an inversion of chromosome 16. This is a scary diagnosis, but not as bad as it could be. We can post something later explaining more about his diagnosis if people feel they want to know. This has been a complete shock to Danielle and Miguel. He hadn’t been feeling well, but they never could have imagined it was something like this. About a month ago he was sick on and off for two weeks, but was told it was due to allergies. He was pale and tired easily, running out of breath just from going up the stairs. He had frequent headaches, red spots on his skin, his gums were painful, and he had cuts that weren't healing. He woke up on the morning of the 11th with a bad cough and feeling like something wasn't right. Going to the hospital when he did saved his life, he couldn't have survived much longer.
We are all so thankful that he is still here with us. Anyone who knows Miguel knows what an amazing man he is. He’s a great father to his two little girls; Diana who is almost 3, and Elena, who is almost 9 months, and he's been an incredible partner to Danielle for almost 10 years. He’s a caring and giving friend, son, nephew, brother. He loves to joke and make people laugh and he would drop everything to help someone in need. He takes care of his family, working long hours to provide for them while Danielle stays home to raise their daughters. Being away from Diana and Elena so much has been incredibly hard from him, so when he’s with them, he does everything he can, buying them toys, playing with them, and showering them with as much love as possible. In the end, I think that might be the hardest part for him, being away from his babies. Not being able to be there for them like he’s used to. The chemotherapy he recently started is lowering his immune system, so he can't have many visitors, not even his daughters. I know he’s worried about Danielle, he’s more worried about her than he is for himself. As we all know, that's the just the kind of man he is. Which is why the first thing that goes through your mind is how could it be Miguel? Miguel, the hard working, but fun-loving guy with a big heart and a ready laugh. The devoted dad and partner who works his ass off providing for his family. How could this happen to anyone, of course, but if it had to happen to anyone, why did it have to be Miguel? Of course, Miguel continues to be a force to recon with, one full of life, and full of mischief. As the silly warning on the nurse’s whiteboard says, watch out for his sarcasm! Miguel is even managing to put smiles on the nurse’s faces. He’s upbeat and positive. He’s strong and says that he doesn’t need to know about his odds of going into remission. It’s the doctors’ job to treat him, and it’s his job to fight. Fight for himself, fight for his girls, and fight for the love of his life.

We started this GoFundMe page for Miguel, Danielle, and their girls because Miguel was the sole provider for their family. We don't want them to be worrying about money while Miguel is fighting for his life. He needs to focus on himself, and Danielle needs to focus on him and their girls. Especially since they're having a difficult time with daddy being away. So please donate whatever you can, no amount is to small. Let's show Miguel how much we love him!
