Help Miguel heal chronic lyme while unable to work

Dear Friends,

Please join me in supporting Miguel to heal and recover so he can feel better and get back to work and life. (We would love to see him thriving again, as in the photo above!)

Our support, as his community of care, will make a world of difference. Please donate if you are able, and please share the fundraiser to your communities and circles, if you are willing. His savings are almost completely depleted and the treatments that are finally helping him are not covered by insurance.

For those of you who do not already know, my brother Miguel has been struggling with significant, undiagnosed physical symptoms for six months, and in the past two months, has not been able to work at all due to debilitating pain, sleeplessness, daily fevers, and other challenges.

Just recently this April he finally found and started two hopeful courses of treatment: Pilates training (private and group physical therapy sessions) that are making a big difference in his at times paralyzing back pain, and working with a naturopath to heal Lyme. He’s making inroads and can now drive short distances regularly and take daily walks again.

He would love to get back to working, and to his passions for throwing pottery, hiking, running, baking bread and other fermentation projects, and enjoying time with family and friends. He’s been working as a chef for many, many years, on his feet constantly, and lifting, etc. Two months ago he had to stop working completely, although for the preceding months, he had needed to take many days off due to physical pain.

Our vision for this fundraiser is that it supports him for the next two months of Pilates (which to be effective is at least two or three sessions each week), and to make sure he can keep working with this naturopath who is highly experienced with treating chronic Lyme. Miguel hopes to get back to work as soon as possible, and I would love that for him too, without pushing too hard, too soon and risking re-injury.
