Meet 11-year-old Miguel Angel, a brave and happy Colombian boy who has faced more challenges in his short life than many of us will ever experience. Miguel Angel was diagnosed with cancer in his leg and underwent intense chemotherapy for nearly a year. Unfortunately, in February this year, the condition worsened and doctors determined that amputation was the best course of action to save his life. After regaining his strength from the amputation, he is going through intense chemotherapy with the aim of becoming cancer-free in order to become a candidate for a prosthetic leg.
Before this abrupt illness struck, Miguel Angel enjoyed running, and playing basketball and tennis with his friends. He was also dedicated to his studies and brought sunshine to his teachers and classmates. Before the surgery to remove his leg, his teachers, doctors and classmates worked together to help him attend the end-of-year school dance while he could still walk and he danced like no other!
His parents, Angela and Jose Manuel and 16-year-old brother, Jose Manuel, have been tremendous supporters of Miguel Angel through this difficult journey. They have shifted their work to be able to take turns staying with him at the hospital and are working to maintain in-home childcare and grow an online teaching business to support their family’s needs.
That's why we're asking for your help. We have set up this GoFundMe campaign to support Miguel Angel and his family during this challenging time. Your donation big or small will help with medical expenses, a future prosthetic leg and other essential needs that will help Miguel Angel thrive in his new way of living.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Every little bit will help make a real difference.
