For those of you who truly know Mignon, you know that she generally does not like to ask people for help. After obtaining the assistance of this community to help her stabilize her housing when she had severe cataracts and could not work, she was able to get on her feet, get a job, and move back to the East Coast. Unfortunately, she now finds herself in a similar situation. When she returned to NY, the rug was pulled from under her when she faced another medical crisis. Her legs swelled to more than three times their original size, and she developed a rash that covered her entire body. When she could no longer tolerate these conditions, she went to the hospital and was hospitalized for six weeks. While there, she not only acquired pneumonia and internal bleeding after a liver biopsy, but also needed two blood transfusions and developed sepsis. Mignon could have died—she flatlined twice. During this time, she lost her job, leaving her both sick and unemployed.

Her cousin came to NY to bring her down to Philadelphia to live with maternal family, but Mignon was admitted to another hospital. This time, she was accurately diagnosed with primary biliary cholangitis, a chronic progressive autoimmune disease attacking her liver. She did not qualify for physical rehabilitation because she has no medical insurance, so she is doing what she can to regain her strength and return to work. In the meantime, she would like to at least work as a ride share partner (Uber, Lyft, Instacart, etc.) using her car, but her car needs to be repaired, registered, insured, and she needs to catch up on car note payments. This is the help that she is seeking. If she can get her car back on the road, she would be able to earn some money until she can find a more traditional job.
