Hi, my name is Lucy and on May 9th I will be cycling the CARTEN - over 100 miles from Cardiff to Tenby to raise money and awareness for Mighty Matilda who a year ago was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.
At the age of just 3, following a limp on her left side and a scan at the Princess of Wales Hospital, on January the 10th 2025 Matilda was diagnosed with Stage 4 High-Risk Neuroblastoma. This diagnosis came as a huge shock and turned the lives of Matilda, her parents and her brothers upside down. Matilda is a triplet and George and Arthur have also had to adjust and overcome a lot in their little lives alongside Matilda.
Matilda is a sweet, happy , caring little girl who has showed such strength and resilience since her diagnosis, taking all treatments, admissions and long stints in hospital in her stride and with an enormous amount of courage. Matilda has so far endured over 12 months of gruelling treatments at Noah's Arc Children's Hospital Cardiff, which includes: chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy, and all with maintaining a smile on her face.
The hospital staff have been amazing, providing incredible care, but being 30 miles away from her fellow triplets has been a huge adjustment for the whole family. This involves a lot of travel, a lot of time apart and a lot of funding.
Your donations will go towards:
• Supporting Matilda’s needs during her hospital stays, helping to make her as comfortable and happy as possible.
• Ensuring her brothers also have opportunities for day trips and fun activities, helping them cope with these big changes.
•Creating special family moments whenever possible, allowing them to make cherished memories together.
• Alleviating financial pressures so her parents can focus on what matters most—Matilda’s fight.
I heard of Matilda's story as her father Stuart was a colleague at the time of her diagnosis. As a mother with a little boy around the same age, this hit too close to home, and I've finally found a way I can help in some small way. I am not a cyclist in any way shape or form, in fact I haven't been on a bike since before I was pregnant, 4 years ago- so things are about to get very interesting. I will make those 100 miles even if i have to crawl over the finish line dragging my bike behind me.
No donation is too small, If you are unable to support financially, please share far and wide to gain awareness on this life changing disease and Matilda's difficult but incredible journey.
Thank you so much for reading, donating, supporting and sharing. It is hugely appreciated by me, Matilda and her family.
