Our precious 6-year-old cat, Miriam (Midge), was recently diagnosed with a rare nasal B cell lymphoma in her right nostril. Thankfully, the biopsy has shown no sign of spread to nearby lymph nodes or major organs. Radiation and chemo are both extremely promising (the vet says potentially curative) given that it is highly localized and the prognosis is so good, but it would devastate us financially on top of all of the diagnostic vet bills so far. I’m a music teacher and my wife is a medical resident. Any funds donated would be prioritized initially towards a CT scan and then radiation, and then chemo.
Midge was found by my wife while working in Washington, DC. She rescued her before a terrible arctic front moved in, and they have been inseparable ever since. Midge is a sweet, sassy, and unbelievably emotive and loving cat that has helped my wife through med school and a lot of life events, good and bad. When she started getting sick with what we thought was a cold, we were absolutely gutted and shocked when the samples from her nasal flush came back positive for lymphoma.
We are lucky she’s relatively stable for now, but time is of the essence to try and get this cancer knocked back before it progresses any further.
It’s just so brutal to know that with such a good prognosis she could potentially beat this and live a full life or at minimum several years in remission. But that pathway is unfortunately not an option for us without significant help.
Any contribution is much appreciated. Help us save our sweet Midge!
