Help Mickey get a kidney

Hello, my name is William Michael Wester, or most would know me by Mickey. I am 55 years of age and I have been fighting insulin dependent diabetes for 45 years. I have experienced almost all the long-term side effects of this disease. But I still have all my fingers and toes. I suffered a critical low blood sugar on April 19, 2019, which left me unresponsive, face down on my bedroom floor. Since I was home alone at the time, no one knew to help me. I have a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor which alerted my wife of my low blood sugar. She tried calling me several times, but I could not answer. So, she called the fire station which is just down the street to come do a courtesy check. They found me dead on the floor.I am a brittle diabetic, on an insulin pump but the pump and the CGM do not communicate with each other. Paramedics have been called 5 times over the past 12 months because I have been incapacitated by low blood sugar. I am also fighting the insurance company now to get an insulin pump that would communicate to the CGM so that when I do have a low it would shut off the insulin flow to my body. In February 2020, I had a total knee replacement which led to respiratory failure just a day later. During this stay my kidneys failed again. I was finally able to come home three weeks later with oxygen and having to do dialysis three times a week. Prior to this I was being proactive and being worked up for a kidney transplant. I found out April 30, 2020 that I was approved to go on the kidney transplant list. Now, I am trying to get help with my mountain of upcoming medical bills and funds for the ongoing medications. After the transplant, my cost for medications will start at $1,500.00 a month. I will need to have $1,500.00 before going into hospital to cover the transplant. So, I need to start raising money now. My treatment hospital is Saint Luke’s of Kansas City.In my life, I have given to my communities over and over. I was a paramedic in Texas for 30 years. I worked until I was forced to retire due to health problems during that 30 years, I was also a firefighter for 10 years. When I retired as a paramedic, there was no pension, no retirement, nothing to help me in that time of need. I will be relying on kind and generous people to help me, my wife and our 13-year-old daughter during this time of need. We covet your prayers during this process in our lives. I have also served as a youth pastor 10 years and been ministering to children since 2000. My family would like to say a great big Thank You for helping me to be able to get a new kidney and continue with the monthly medications that I will need. The funds that you donate will make it possible for me to live, without the medications my body will reject the new kidney.
