Marie Michelle "Michu" Thomas is a faithful and courageous woman from Haiti, now living in the U.S. with her two daughters. She’s working hard to rebuild her life and career—and she needs our help.

Michu came to Christ through Charis’ on-the-ground ministry in Haiti, where she met and married Jean Dady Thomas (“Dady”)—Charis’ first convert and a trusted driver for mission teams. Together, they were baptized, served faithfully, and started a beautiful family.

Through the Biden humanitarian parole program, Michu and her two daughters were able to come to the U.S., but Dady was not permitted to join them. Now, Michu finds herself in a new country, navigating a different language and culture, while raising her girls as a single parent. Although she graduated with honors from nursing school in Haiti, her degree isn’t recognized here. Still, she’s not giving up! Michu is pursuing a new path—as a Certified Nursing Assistant — a practical step many Haitian women have successfully taken in the U.S.

She’s been accepted into a 5-week CNA program in Park Ridge, IL. The total cost, including tuition, certification, required medical exams, and a solid pair of work shoes, comes to $2,000.

Michu has shown humility, perseverance, and unwavering faith. Like so many women before her, she is stepping forward—boldly, not asking for ease, but seeking help in her time of need.
