Michelle (Dorothy) Mbuki – died tragically a few weeks ago in her apartment from a coronary heart attack. Michelle came to Chicago to study at Professional Assistance Center of Education (PACE) from Nairobi, Kenya, where her mother runs a farm, and her father works for the UN in Food Relief across Africa.
Michelle was a vibrant, happy, generous person, and everyone loved her. The thought that she has passed at such a young age has shocked all those who knew her. Michelle lived fully on her own, paid her own bills, built a network of friends, volunteered, and ultimately found her dream job - working independently at Jewel - first as a bagger and ultimately a cashier, where she was respected and beloved. The cost for her to be sent home was far more than her family had, and they have borrowed the funds.
Anything you could contribute to help support her family would be so appreciated.
Additionally, Michelle’s parents have come to town from Kenya this week to organize her affairs and will be hosting a Memorial Service for Michelle on October 12th, 2025, at 3 PM in Skokie at Chicago Jewish Funerals – 8851 Skokie Boulevard.
Given how far away from home they are, it would be very meaningful and important to them if you and your loved ones would attend. This is the only event being held to honor Michelle’s memory.
Warmly,
