Hello, my name is Julie Miller and I am asking for your love, prayers, and generosity in helping my best friend since sixth grade, Michelle Peffley-Jaeckel. Michelle is a 48 year old, single mother of twin girls, Karissa and Kayla. She is the most loving, compassionate, and empathetic person that I have ever known and an AMAZING mother to her girls who adore her!
Several days leading up to Thanksgiving of being unable to eat/digest any food and very intense abdominal pain, lead Michelle to the ER on November 28th. After a few tests, they immediately admitted her to Memorial Hospital for further testing stating she had a lesion on her pancreas. On Wednesday, December 1, Michelle was given the hardest hitting news that she could possibly imagine. It was indeed Pancreatic Cancer. They wouldn’t know the severity of it until they could get inside to examine the mass.
Michelle was immediately transferred to IU Health in Indianapolis the very next day. On Friday, December 3rd, Michelle underwent a “Whipple” procedure. In a Whipple, they remove the gallbladder, bile duct, the head of the pancreas, part of the small intestine, and then reroute everything back together. As you can imagine, this was a very painful surgery with a very tough recovery. After another 10 days in the hospital with her very loving and faithful boyfriend Justin by her side every minute, Michelle was released to go home on December 13th, where Justin and the girls are helping her recover from surgery.
The good news is that the cancer had not yet spread to any other organs, but we found out last week that it has indeed spread to at least 6 Lymph Nodes. After Michelle has recovered from this surgery, they will put together a 6 month plan of chemotherapy to address the Lymph Nodes.
Michelle will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. Being a single income household and a single mother of two girls in college, Michelle has always worked hard, day and night, to provide for the family. Kayla and Karissa are both in school and work part time to try to contribute what they can.
We are asking for your generosity in helping this amazing family with their living expenses for the next several months. Any amounts donated will go directly to Michelle and the girls to pay for the mortgage, utilities and groceries. If you are unable to donate, please share this campaign on your page.
