Hello. My name is Jen. One of my closest BFFs is living every mother's worst nightmare. Michelle is among the kindest, most generous, and giving people I know. She has always worked so hard to provide and care for her daughter, Sydney. Right now Michelle needs to focus on being with Sydney and helping her kick cancer's butt. From Michelle: Rhabdomyosarcoma …prepare to have this beauty kick your butt!! Tuesday Night we took a trip to the ER suspecting Sydney might have appendicitis…a few hours later, we were in an ambulance being checked into Primary Children’s Cancer wing. By Wednesday she had a CT scan, and echocardiogram and was then taken into surgery to biopsy a tumor near her spine and diaphragm, a drain was placed to remove fluid building up around the tumor causing her right lung to partially collapse, and a bone sample from both hips and a bone marrow sample from the spine itself. Post-surgery, there were complications, to put it mildly, and she was rushed back into surgery for several hours to locate the bleed. She has been in a lot of pain but is stable enough today that the plan is to start chemotherapy. It will be once a week at Primary Children’s Hospital for 9 months followed by radiation. My parents and I spoke with her team of doctors for several hours and we really like them as they are 500% team Sydney.
