My name is Michelle, and I’m a single mom to a 9-year-old boy, Vincent. Right now, we are homeless, living in my car, in the brutal Texas heat.
A few weeks ago, we were evicted from our apartment. I had fallen behind on rent and was unable to pay $4,500 (with late fees and interest) to stop the eviction. I thought that was already too much to handle, but now the apartment complex is charging me over $12,000 in rent and fees, including months I didn’t even live there.
We have nowhere to go. We’ve been sleeping in my car, living day by day with help from friends, and doing everything we can to survive. I’ve always worked hard to support my son, but this situation has pushed me past the limit.
It’s heartbreaking to watch my child go through this. He’s only 9. He doesn’t deserve to live like this.
I’m asking for help, from anyone with compassion in their heart, so I can:
• Pay off this inflated and unexpected debt
• Start the legal process to dispute the unfair charges
• Afford food, gas, and eventually a roof over our heads again
Even $1 makes a difference. Your support, whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign, could help us start over.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for seeing us.
