Help Michelle Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

Update at bottom 10/6/24
Hello everyone. My sisters house was hit by the storm surge from hurricane Helene. It had 4 feet of water around it which translates to 28 plus inches inside the home. What that means in real world terms is everything from the knee or more down is soaked in salty sewage water and is already molding. It’s overwhelming. All the furniture has gone to the curb to be thrown away. The kids toys are all gone. Her kitchen bottom cabinets and bathroom vanity are collapsing on themselves. The walls are leaking water so we shop vac the floors with the vac plugged into the kitchen outlet and turn around and there is more water on the floor.
Thank you everyone for your continued prayers and support. Everyone has been amazing. And so supportive. We are surrounded by so many blessings and fantastic people. Michelle is so appreciative of what she still has, people that show up and the hope her house still represents of the life she will recreate for her kiddos.
Many have asked how they can help or for updates so here’s the down and dirty:
Her insurance will (hopefully) cover the house repairs minus the 10,000 deductible. But contents are another story. Nearly everything they had was taken to the curb. Beds, toys, sofa, clothes. Shoes. Everything. Completely starting over. The contents were not covered.
The remediation people will be here tomorrow to help start the drying out process and tearing off drywall/plasterboard and seeing if the original 1951 oak floors can be saved. I have no idea how long it will take. The kitchen cabinets were falling apart from all the water. She will need all new appliances. Vacuum. All things that were kept on the floor or any shelves within 28” of the floor go flooded in rancid biohazard swamp water. That’s the waterline we are working with. We will have to get new furniture to sleep and live on, electronics etc. but first is the healing the house structure.
We have a pod coming Wednesday to load the 16 bins of stuff we were able to save and some furniture that we are praying will dry out and survive. Thank you for all the prayers!
If you have paw patrol toys or legos and would like to send them to her please give it a week or so and then if you message me I’m happy to share her address.
If you would like to assist monetarily please contact Michelle by Venmo.
It’s overwhelming. A grief process. Thank you to her friends who have become family and have all come to help and are still coming to help. Thank you to the friends who have let us sleep at their homes and shower and helped with laundry and keeping pets safe who have all helped minimize the trauma.

uncle Garey arrived yesterday with an RV to stay in. Now we are trying to figure out where to put it so it doesn’t get hit by this hurricane-the original plan was to put it in the driveway.
