My name is Jay Saelee. On behalf of my family, I am starting this fundraiser to support Michelle in her fight against cancer. Michelle is married to my uncle, Lo, and has been a part of our family for over 18 years. She is the mother of two of my cousins, Misa and Nessa, who are both in high school.

 

It all started in 2019 when Michelle got an ultrasound followed by a biopsy. In July of 2019, Michelle was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. In February 2020, after a brief battle that included chemotherapy and surgery, Michelle was in remission. 

 

Fast-forward to 2021, Michelle began to feel unwell. After seeing her doctor and a pathologist, they saw possible signs of leukemia and sent Michelle to Stanford Emergency Department. On August 18, 2021, Stanford diagnosed Michelle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was admitted to Stanford Hospital, where she remained until her discharge on August 28, 2021. Since that time, Michelle has had to commute to Stanford for appointments.

 

On December 1, 2021, Michelle was admitted into Stanford Hospital again to undergo stem cell transplants. She was discharged again from Stanford on December 28, 2021.

 

Michelle will have to attend 3-4 appointments each week as part of her treatment at Stanford Hospital. For this reason, Michelle and her family have had to rent a home a few blocks from Stanford to ensure that she receives the treatments she needs. They are expected to remain in Stanford until at least March of 2022.

 

Michelle's battle with breast cancer and now Acute Myeloid Leukemia has exhausted their family savings; it has forced Michelle and her husband out of their full-time jobs. Michelle's battle with cancer has put a strain on her family of 4.
