Help Michelle & Jimmy Overcome Medical Crisis
Donation protected
Michelle and Jimmy were on vacation and he passed out and busted his head open while on an excursion in Mexico. He was taken back to their cruise ship hospital for treatment of his injuries. That is when his blood pressure started dropping, he developed chills, etc. The doctor stitched his head in 2 places, and immediately called 911 for an ambulance and Dr in Cozumel. It was apparent that he needed a hospital immediately.
Michelle, along with 4 crew members, was instructed to pack up their luggage and debark the ship to go straight to the hospital. At this time, they thought he could have a brain bleed, concussion, and cardiac problems. She is beyond upset at this point.
He is admitted into the hospital with a high fever of 103.8 and severe pain in the groin, heart rate elevated, BP dropping, sweating and disoriented. The cardiologist came in and said he is in kidney and liver failure and not stable enough to MedVac. They are running tests and icing him down to try and get his fever down.
Unfortunately, they don’t have any travel insurance. MedVac starts at $31,000. As soon as they stepped out of the ambulance she was asked for a large deposit before they would help. The hospital is not like ours here in the US. Once he is stable and safe to fly, they will be traveling back to Texas or Florida to the closest US hospital.
Anyone who knows Michelle and Jimmy love them. You know how caring, funny and personable they are. They would do anything for their friends and family.
Please donate to help them of this huge financial burden that has been placed on them in addition to the medical crisis.
ALL donations will go directly to get them home via MedVac transport once he is stable. Also to pay the growing hospital bills and ambulance costs in Mexico. If you are not able to donate, please share this go fund me and keep the prayers coming for this sweet couple. Michelle is alone in Mexico and barely able to communicate with the hospital staff and doesn’t feel safe to leave him.
Thank you and God Bless!
****Update on Jimmy & Michelle**** They are out of Mexico! Thank you to everyone for the prayers and for those of you who donated, shared and reached out. The Embassy after hours was called many times and several friends & family contacted our Senators and Congressman and some other prominent figures to help them. They were able to fly to Houston Sunday afternoon and then are due in Pensacola approximately 11 pm. The plan is to take him directly to Sacred Heart Hospital immediately. He is still not in any shape to be traveling but this is the only way to get him back to the US and with much better treatment options!
Please PRAY for him for a full recovery. And also, before they got the paperwork to fly, she had to pay another large sum of money to the hospital in spite of the fact they don't have a diagnosis and didn't seem to be able to really help him.
******UPDATE 5/16/24-Thursday*******
Jimmy is currently in the Cardiac ICU @ Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL. He is still very very ill and undergoing testing for multiple issues. Here is what we know: he has a blood clot in is right leg, 2 blood clots in his lungs, a diagnosis of MRSA, and is somewhat septic. He also has a bilateral kidney infection and is still running a fever. The team of doctors are somewhat puzzled at the moment. He is still fighting with VERY serious medical problems which makes his case VERY complex to treat.
Michelle is staying in a hotel near the hospital due to fact they live an hour drive (each way) away. This is getting very expensive as now they are charging Summer hotel rates here on the Gulf Coast. There is no end in sight at the present moment. The out of pocket expenses are really adding up when she travels each day-gas, food, etc. ALL donations will be used to help cover the mounting daily tab. Please consider a monetary donation if you are able. If not, PLEASE keep Jimmy in your prayers for a full recovery. And lastly, PLEASE SHARE this page with your friends & family on Facebook.
THANK YOU if you have donated, we appreciate it!!!!!
********UPDATE 5/21/24- Tuesday*************
Jimmy was finally discharged from the hospital and able to continue his recovery at home. That will be at least 4-6 weeks at a minimum with Home Health Care. He will be on IV antiobiotics to treat the MRSA in his blood stream. Michelle is so happy to bring her Honey Muffin home! Now, Michelle will be very busy managing his care with the Home Health team and coordinating doctor visits, etc. Please continue to keep Jimmy in your prayers for a FULL recovery and of course for Michelle as his caregiver. They have both been thru quite an ordeal and were away from home for 18 days!!! Now that they are home, the medical expenses continue with the medications, home health care, etc. Please consider a donation to help them with this burden. And THANK YOU for those of you who have donated, shared, etc. I know they appreciate it very much! Please SHARE this page with your friends and family on Facebook.
Thank you again!
