I am writing this on behalf of my mother, Michelle, as, at the moment, she is too distraught to put this story to page.
10 months ago, my mom, a 56-year-old Disney magic maker, found out that she had been made the victim of title fraud. She owned her home outright and had been living in it for 4 years when she was served with papers to appear in eviction court, after never having sold her home. Not being able to afford an attorney, she represented herself, and the judge dismissed the eviction and added that determining ownership of the home was a matter for civil court, not eviction court.
At that point, my mother wanted to hire an attorney as she was expecting a civil case, but she still did not have the money to do so, and no civil case came.
March comes around this year, and my mom is served with another summons to eviction court, this time with an entirely different plaintiff. Come to find out, the first guy sold it to someone else, who was now trying to evict. My mother meticulously put together a paper trail showing the court the fraud from a year ago and even included the decision from the last judge saying that this was a matter for civil court. Despite that, this new judge awarded an eviction, giving her only 30 days to vacate her home.
My mom, Michelle, is the kindest woman I know, and she is having her home stolen from her because some guy filed fraudulent paperwork to steal her title. Even with my help, we don't have the funds to pay a lawyer to fight this injustice, not to mention pay for a new place to live in 30 days. So we are asking from the bottoms of our hearts, for any assistance you can offer, whether it's a dollar, or just sharing this with as many people as you can, anything helps.
