Hello everyone! Our friend Michelle Edmonds has been diagnosed with sclerosing odontogenic carcinoma, a rare cancer that is in her jaw. Treatment requires a segmental mandibulectomy, during which a portion of her jaw will be removed and then reconstructed from bone in her leg. Michelle will have approximately one week at the hospital after surgery, followed by several months of recovery. This procedure consists of both medical and dental procedures. Although Michelle has medical and dental insurance, the latter will only cover a small portion of the oral surgery and possibly not any of the required prosthetics. Although Massey Cancer Center has payment plans to help out patients, VCU Dental does not and requires payment up front. Please consider helping out our wonderful friend Michelle. She has always been there for us and I hope that we can do the same for her.
