My name is Michelle Velazquez Irizarry, and I am a mother of two. I am facing something no family should have to go through — my cancer has returned, and two days ago I received the diagnosis while my husband is not here to help me.
On November 1, 2025, ICE took my husband, the main provider for our family. Since then, I have been caring for our children alone while my health has been getting worse each month.
My cancer journey began when I was 19. I survived papillary thyroid cancer, surgery, and two rounds of radioactive treatment. In 2020, a medication error caused new complications, and I spent years trying to get a biopsy that was denied multiple times. During this time, I married my husband, had our miracle baby, and faced a high-risk pregnancy with serious medical complications.
After months of being very sick, I finally received a biopsy — and now the cancer has returned.
With my husband gone and treatment starting again, I am struggling to cover basic needs, medical appointments, and support for my children. I am asking for help to keep our home stable while I fight for my life and work to bring my husband back to us.
Anything you give — even sharing this page — means so much to our family.
Thank you for your kindness.
Michelle Velazquez!
