Help Michelle and Ken cover transplant expenses
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Marsha Dugan, and I have had the honor of serving on a Bay Area non-profit board with Michelle Myles Chambers for five years. I learned recently that Ken, Michelle’s husband of 36 years and pastor of West Side Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years, is having kidney transplant surgery on May 19th.
The kidney Ken will receive is being donated by Candase Chambers, Ken and Michelle’s daughter.
Michelle has left several messages with their insurer to determine what out-of-pocket expenses they should expect for two surgeries and two recoveries. She is still waiting for an answer.
While they have been left in the dark around specifics, Ken and Michelle know this: there will be a significant shortfall between their insurance coverage and their costs, which will include
- months of prescriptions,
- transportation expenses for multiple trips from Oakland to UCSF (tolls, gas, and $35/day parking),
- hospital equipment rentals (bed, wheelchair, etc.),
- not to mention unanticipated procedures/appointments that invariably occur.
Ken and Michelle have touched more lives in transformative and loving ways than any of us can imagine. We have an opportunity now to return the favor. Together, we can remove this source of troubling financial uncertainty from their lives.
Raising funds to cover these uninsured expenses will free the Chambers family to focus entirely on healing and recovery.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting Ken, Michelle and Candase.
Psalm 103:2–3
2 Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
3 He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
