Grateful for the support of Michele & Charlie.

Hi All. My name is Diana. My husband Gary and I were lucky to have lived on MDI for 21 years. During that time, we crossed paths with two beautiful people. Michele (Abbott, as some of you know her) and Charlie Croan. Many know her and what she means to not only me but to so many on MDI and beyond.

The Croans are poised for a significant Cancer Battle!

Michele found out about a month ago that she had a tumor in her liver. One appointment led to another, which included a trip to Boston to meet with a doctor at Dana Farber. More tests. She got an Oncologist in Belfast (who I know firsthand is terrific!). A PET scan provided news that wasn't what they were hoping for, but there were finally some answers! She has been diagnosed with a rare bile duct cancer- Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma. Chemo is starting, and it will be intense. She has just had her first round and took it like a champ!! The roller coaster ride they are both on will continue. They are ready. They will be traveling back and forth to Belfast for these treatments. There will be appointments in Brewer and Boston too. Any medical emergency is draining in so many ways....mentally, physically, and financially. Charlie and Michele have made the tough decision to put Acadia Pet Services on somewhat of a hold so that Charlie can focus on his wife and her treatment and care. The last thing they need to worry about is finances, so we are reaching out to the community. Insurance covers some things but not everything for treatment. We are trying to provide somewhat of a cushion. Gas prices are scaring us all. Driving back and forth to appointments is going to be expensive.

There is already a group taking care of meals. This group is respectful of Michele's dietary restrictions and needs and considers that minimizing contact with others is crucial during chemo. There are organized drop-off points. Michele would love to hug everyone sending love, but we need to keep her safe!!

This couple has done so much for many in this community and further. Michele has always been there to help and lend a hand to anyone. She is a gem, and she is also married to one!!

I bet everyone reading this has a story to tell!

We don't want Michele and Charlie to worry about money right now. Instead, the focus is on saving her life.

Any amount will make a difference, and it will add up.
