Seeing the World Clearly Again: A Journey to Recover My Vision
My name is Michael Martin and I just turned 70 years young. For the past 44 years, I have made my living as a cinematographer and video editor. Many of you may know me, and may have worked with me in the past, on projects like commercials, corporate videos, and Equine Champions for Christ.
In 2019 my optometrist discovered a small cataract in my right eye. In the last 2 years my left eye also developed a cataract. In the last 6 months my vision has taken a dramatic turn for the worse and is slowly fading. I visited an ophthalmologist in June of 2024 and was told that I need emergency surgery.
Cataracts have decimated my vision. Everyday tasks like reading, cooking, walking, working and even recognizing people is a struggle. It hasn't been possible for me to drive in nearly 2 years. Working has become nearly impossible, and bright lights and bright skies almost completely blind me.
The good news is, I have a chance to see clearly again! Cataract surgery is a safe and effective procedure that can restore my vision, but unfortunately, I don’t have the funds to pay for it, and it's only covered 20% by my insurance.
That's where you come in.
I'm reaching out to you today to help me reach my fundraising goal of $6000 to cover the costs of this life-changing surgery.
Your support will allow me to:
• Live a safe and independent life.
• Continue working as an editor.
• Drive again safely and confidently.
• Experience the world in clear vibrant colors again.
Every contribution, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to seeing clearly again.
Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can help me see the world with renewed clarity and joy.
