Support Micheal's Bone Marrow Transplant
Micheal Antoskow, a devoted husband to Donna, father to five daughters—Jessica, Morgan, Mia, Olivia, and Brittany—is a cherished member of our community. In June 2023, Micheal received the devastating diagnosis of Post ET Myelofibrosis, a deadly wasting disease of bone marrow cancer. His only potentially curative treatment is a bone marrow stem cell transplant. Despite searching through over 41 million donors, no complete match has been found. What makes this journey even more profound is that Micheal’s oldest daughter, Jessica, has been chosen as his stem cell donor. This rare and meaningful circumstance highlights the deep bond they share and the critical role family will play in Micheal’s fight for survival. However, the transplant and recovery process will be incredibly difficult. Micheal will require full-time care, and his initial road to recovery will take 3-4 months; however, he will be diminished for at least a year and will have ongoing treatment for a lifetime.
During this time, Micheal’s family will relocate to Phoenix. Donna, his wife, has taken a leave of absence from her job to serve as his full-time caregiver, with daughter Jessica as her second hand. His other daughters will also aid in Micheal's healing while in AZ to offer support and relief so the entire family can be fully rested mentally and physically to be able to best serve Micheal's needs. Micheal's procedure is scheduled at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ, far from his home in Woodstock, GA. The family faces significant financial challenges as they prepare for this life-saving treatment. Micheal and Donna will need to stay in Arizona for at least 100 days post-procedure for recovery. This means covering travel, housing, food, and transportation expenses, all while maintaining their household in Georgia.
During Micheal's recovery in Arizona, all five of their daughters will spend time with him to comfort him during his healing as well as support each other as a family. They say it takes a tribe, and Micheal is blessed that his tribe will be a fundamental part of this life-saving procedure. Both Micheal and Donna will be out of work for nearly a year, adding to the financial strain. The funds raised will help cover these essential needs, ensuring Micheal can focus on his recovery without the added stress of financial burdens.
Although this medical journey seems daunting, Micheal is unwavering in his faith and determined to meet this challenge head-on and come out on the other side as a better version of himself, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. His resilience is inspiring, and he can often be quoted as saying, "It only hurts, while it hurts." Your support can make a significant difference in their lives during this challenging time.
The Antoskow family is humbled by any financial support given to ease the burden; however, they also know the value of prayers. We ask that you keep Micheal in your prayers. We will continue to update you all on his recovery and thank you in advance for your support in however way it's given.
Thank you!
