Our family’s world changed in an instant when a small infection on Michael’s foot led to a series of life-altering surgeries. At first, we hoped it would be a simple fix, but the infection spread quickly. Michael underwent his first surgery to remove his toes, then another to remove half his foot. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the infection persisted, and he ultimately lost his entire foot. After further complications, doctors had to amputate just below his knee, and finally, a few inches above the knee. Each step of this journey has been incredibly hard on our young family—emotionally, physically, spiritually, and financially.
Now, Michael is beginning the long road toward getting a prosthetic leg. With Christmas coming and Michael unable to work, our family is facing a very tough season. His wife, Kelly, continues to work but has had to take significant time off to help Michael with endless doctor’s appointments and hospital stays. We are grateful that our medical bills have been covered by insurance, but the costs of daily living, food, rent, and the unforeseen expenses of a prosthetic leg are overwhelming. We also want to make sure we can provide for our three children during this challenging time.
We are reaching out for help and support from our community. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to us as we navigate this difficult journey. Your kindness will help us keep our family afloat and give Michael hope as he works toward recovery and independence.
