In 2019, I experienced a nervous breakdown that led to a long period of depression. During those years, I struggled to take care of myself, and my dental health suffered as a result. I stopped brushing my teeth, and over time, this led to severe dental issues that I am still dealing with today. I have already spent a significant amount on dental work, hoping to save my teeth, but now my dentist says I need full dentures. We plan to do the top dentures this year. I am disabled and have Aetna Medicare, and I’ve been paying monthly for Delta Dental coverage, but my out-of-pocket costs are still very high. Right now, I have had my top four teeth pulled and use a partial, which causes me to speak with a lisp and makes me self-conscious. The partial covers part of my palate and triggers my gag reflex, sometimes making me gag until I throw up or have to remove it in front of others. It’s embarrassing and has made it difficult to feel comfortable around people. Getting these new dentures will be life-changing for me. The dentures will be 'U' shaped and won’t cover my palate, so I’ll be able to wear them without gagging. I am looking forward to smiling again and not having to cover my mouth. I want to be able to speak and eat comfortably, and to feel confident in social situations again. I know that everything is tight right now with finances and prices going up.
