Help Michael with unexpected recovery expenses

You may have been my son's guest. If you've eaten at Eloise, Block, or Tasty Kabob, there's a good chance that he prepared your food. He has always been an intuitive, gifted, and hard-working cook, who joined the industry out of a love of the craft and because Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential convinced him to board the pirate ship. He started his first shift when he was 15 & 1/2 doing dish and closed his last shift as a lead before his accident at 20.
Four weeks ago my son was involved in a life-changing workplace accident. For those of us here who have worked in the restaurant industry, I will only say, it was a BOH accident and a nightmare worst case scenario which left his physicians with only one option- a transradial amputation.
He is recovering remarkably, and is preparing to use a very dynamic and adaptive myoelectric prosthetic. I’m ridiculously proud of his fortitude, his tenacity, and his ability to listen to his somatic self in preparing for this training process to integrate a bionic organ. That being said, the full integration and adaptation process will be a ladder climbing upwards.
There are structures in place that are designed to support individuals during life changing transitions (Workers Comp, SSD), and right now we are doing the work of ensuring that the former pays for the fullness of his care and that both supplement the loss of income associated with the permanent loss of a limb that will be a part of his life's journey.
I have created this GoFundMe to support any and all unforeseen costs in ensuring that Michael receives his full legal entitlements, and to generally support Michael’s recovery. Worker's Comp in the State of Texas has valued my 20 year-old son at 70% of his median hourly income until he is deemed “able to work”. Who were you at 20? Was 70% of that your value?
We are grateful for any and all mutual aid support. We hope to celebrate his recovery with you all soon.
