Help Michael With His Recovery
Donation protected
Hi. I'm Susan -- a former co-worker of Michael's and I offered to help him create this GoFundMe to help him during his recovery.
As you may know, Michael McDevitt Kelly was recently in a horrific accident and endured multiple injuries and surgeries. It happened on Wednesday evening, 10/14, in Mt Laurel, NJ. Michael's tiny Honda Fit was t-boned at full speed at the intersection of Union Mill and Hartford Rd by a driver presumed to be under the influence. The force of the crash pushed his car head-on into a tree. While his seat belt and air bags saved his life, the car was declared a total loss.

Michael was found on the wet ground outside his car face down in the dirt by a passing driver who called 911 and waited with him until medical care arrived. He was conscious but hurt very badly.
The paramedics rushed him to Cooper Trauma in Camden. His injuries included 3 breaks in his pelvis requiring emergency surgery, multiple broken ribs, a shattered index finger and knuckle on his right hand requiring reconstructive surgery, and a long fracture to his left wrist.
After 8 days in the hospital, Michael was released and is now confined to a walker while having minimal to no use of his hands due to both forearms and hands being in casts and not allowed to bear any weight. Michael's healing process will be 6 - 8 weeks followed by continued recovery in physical therapy.
This accident couldn't have happened at a worse time:
- After losing his job to Covid-19, Michael was enrolled in school to earn phlebotomy license beginning on Nov 9 -- but that is on hold until his casts are removed.
- He recently reduced his car insurance coverage to liability to afford tuition payments and because of that he will lose the full value of the car.
-He can't work because of his recovery and is living off of savings until can start school and working part time.
If you could support this GoFundMe for Michael by making a donation and then sharing it with your network, he would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 will help him get closer to his goal and make his road to recovery and a new normal easier! And, if we raise more than the $2,500-- Michael will use the proceeds towards replacing his car.
Hopefully once he is fully recovered, Michael can get back to achieving his goal of completing his schooling and reentering the work force as a phlebotomist. And he is eager to get back to his volunteer work with the One Warm Coat project and Sunday Love to provide warm coats and warm meals to the needy in our area.
Let's help Michael get back on his feet... yes? Thank you for reading this and for your much appreciated donation! God bless you.
Susan
