URGENT: Help Michael's Fight With Cancer

I’m reaching out to you because you and I have a mutual friend--Michael Anketell. You may or may not be aware that Mike is fighting the battle of his life—Stage IV Melanoma. If you know Mike, he usually doesn’t talk about his own problems because he doesn’t want to “burden” his friends. So he struggles through it all—alone—(cancer is a really isolating illness), all the while keeping a low profile on Facebook—only sharing other people’s posts or reminiscing the good old days! Typical Mike, right? : )
But those “good old days” were some of the best days of his life. Mike was the creator and producer of the well-known fashion event that benefited AIDS Project Los Angeles that raised millions of dollars for people living with HIV and AIDS. He created a fun, high-profile venue for designers, models, and celebrities to come together for one night each year to raise awareness of this horrific disease that has killed millions over the years. Though he lost many friends to AIDS, he never ever lost momentum to keep fighting to end AIDS and HIV forever.
But now it’s Mike’s turn to fight his own disease. He would never ask you for money—so I am creating this campaign on his behalf. As a friend of Mike’s, please consider contributing whatever you can for some emergency expenses which include insurance co-pays, food, and rides to and from the hospital. I am raising $2,750 towards these expenses. Right now, Mike (and his doctors) are hopeful about his recovery! He is scheduled soon for surgery, and then chemotherapy.
These unfortunate circumstances were the result of a family member unlawfully taking money that was due Mike and not returning it. But with your help, he will be able to continue with his treatments without worrying about the incidentals.
