On June 25th, our brother Michael was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident when a car struck him on the left-hand side at an intersection with poor visibility. Michael was life flighted to Pittsburgh. The extent of Michael’s injuries were severe, including multiple fractures:
* **Fractured left foot in two places**
* **Broken tibia, fibula, and femur**
* **Pelvis fractured in two places**
* **Several broken ribs**
* **A completely dislocated and broken right wrist, which will require a hand specialist to repair the ligaments and tendons
Michael will be undergoing multiple orthopedic surgeries over the next couple of weeks and faces a long, painful journey of intensive physical and occupational therapy. His road to recovery will be incredibly challenging, but we are determined to help him walk again.
Update as of June 27th:
On June 27th, Michael went in for the first of many surgeries, beginning with the procedure to start repairing his femur. However, the surgery took a critical turn when doctors discovered internal bleeding. He was immediately taken in for exploratory abdominal surgery to identify the source.
At this time, the surgical team has decided to leave Michael open overnight to closely monitor the bleeding and ensure it is under control. He remains on a ventilator as the medical team continues to evaluate and stabilize him.
We want to sincerely thank each and every person who has reached out to my mom, dad, sisters, and me to check in on Michael, offer prayers, and send support. He has an amazing village surrounding him, and we are so grateful.
My sisters and I are working diligently to get everything in order to ensure Michael has the best outcome possible. But we can’t do it alone.
