The past three years have been unexpectedly hard, and I never imagined I’d be in a position like this.

During that time, I’ve been dealing with episodes of dizziness and weakness that have led to several falls. In late 2023, one of those falls fractured my L1 vertebra on both sides and herniating four discs. In short, I broke my back, and the recovery was long and limiting, keeping me out of work for most of that time.

Last month, after an unexpected appendectomy, doctors were finally able to figure out that the weakness and dizziness I’ve been experiencing are likely tied to my aortic valve, which is severely restricting blood flow and will need to be replaced.

That said, there is good news. I was recently hired at Publix and will be starting in just a few days. I’m hopeful and grateful for the opportunity, even as I ease back into standing for long shifts after everything my body has been through.

Right now, I’m just trying to bridge the money gap. My savings are gone after so long without work. I’ve cut costs wherever possible, sold personal items, and applied for disability - but that process could take more than 8-12 months. I’m doing everything I can, but there’s a short stretch where I could really use some help. So I’m turning to you, my friends.

I’ve worked out that covering about $2,200 would help me get through the next few months of medical and household expenses while I wait for paychecks to start coming in. This support would keep me from falling further behind and give me the stability I need as I move forward.
