Dear Friends and Family,

It’s with a heavy heart that I come to you all very openly and transparently. Recently, during a visit to the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor, it was discovered that I have a cancerous tumor growing in my nose. This cancerous tumor is a result of the radiation treatment I underwent with my retinoblastoma to remove the tumors in my eyes.

On June 27th, I had a non-invasive surgery aimed at removing the cancerous tumor. Unfortunately, despite the efforts made, remnants of the cancerous tumor still remain. To address this, radiation treatment maynot be an option . We attended my recent radiation appointment, and I left with more questions than answers. Before we can start any solid treatment plan, further testing is required.

As it stands, I don’t yet have many answers. I will learn more when I meet with the specialist, and additional tests are needed to check if the cancer has spread to other parts of my body. While this uncertainty weighs heavily on me, one thing is clear: I will likely need to miss some time at work, and the medical bills will begin to accumulate.
