Help Michael Oretsky Rebuild After Fire

My name is Michael Oretsky. I recently experienced the devastating loss of my home that was destroyed in a fire yesterday morning on by Punchbowl in Honolulu. This tragic event has left me my 84 year old father and 10 year old son with an uninhabitable place to live. The fire started in the house next door and spread over to ours. This devastation comes at the very tail end of 1.5 year effort to build an off the grid system and provided a home

with complete energy independence. I spent months bringing in dirt to level out the front yard so that my son could have a 40ft X 20ft artificially turfed soccer pitch so my son could further develop his soccer skills. The project had just entered its very last week to completion.

The fire also resulted in the loss of approximately $70,000 worth of personal property, leaving me and my family in a difficult situation. Also during this time my father experienced a broken hip and replacement surgery.

My son, my father, my responsibility has rendered me financially and emotionally overwhelmed.

I am reaching out to those for support to help rebuild the life and provide a stable environment for my family. Recent update!

The origin of the fire began in the house next to mine with a squatting neighbor who at the time owed over a year in back rent and was given a few days to vacate the property. The idea that my neighbor and someone I considered a friend might have intentionally set his place on fire leaves feeling shocked and betrayed. As though I have been played the fool for the past 2 years. Never in my life have I experienced such a loss.
