Help Michael Obadia

Donation protected

It’s probably been a while since you heard from our beloved friend Michael Obadia, but we’re sure you haven't forgotten him—his kindness, his optimism, his creative genius, his sense of humor and his love of all people.  He's still the same irrepressible Michael, but his life is quite different now.

Today Michael has advanced Multiple Sclerosis. In just a few short years he has gone from walking with a cane to using a scooter to living full time in a motorized wheelchair.  And now Michael is losing the use of his arms and hands.  Today he requires assistance for all of his needs.

If Michael were writing this he would probably say something like, “I’m paralyzed with joy to reach out to you.” But the truth is - his life is very difficult and after years of not asking for help, he now needs yours.

Michael’s one wish is to continue living in his home in Connecticut so he can be close to his son Gabe. Your donation will help pay for the aides who work with Michael and make staying in his home possible.  We’ll also use your donation to convert the room next to his garage into an apartment for a full-time, live-in assistant.

Living at home will help Michael continue working at the Prospector Theater— where he doesn't make a lot of money - but he does do an incredible job helping the theater with its mission of employing disabled people. You can see Michael talking about the importance of work and staying active in the links we've included here:

Michael wants to keep writing music and stories and being a great dad and a great friend to anyone lucky enough to know him. Helping Michael now means he'll be able to continue to do all of those things - for as long as possible.

Thank you very much for any help you can offer.
