Hi, my name is Evan Bendiksen and I am raising funds for my father-in-law Michael Neusch to help pay for his medical bills.

Michael has worked as a woodworker for over 40 years in the Canton, Texas area and has been setting up at First Monday Trade Days for a long time as well.

He has been self-employed that entire time, so he does not have health insurance. He also cannot afford health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. He is also 63 so does not qualify for Medicaid. He has also been denied for Disability.

At the beginning of July, Michael was taken to the Emergency Room in Athens, Texas for abdominal pain and muscle spasms. They released him after giving him pain medication. Michael wasn't able to get out of bed due to the pain he was in, and this cocktail of pain medications led him to develop a stomach ulcer, for which he was then hospitalized at Christus Mother Frances in Tyler, Texas for a few days in early July. He was released after they removed the stomach ulcers. After a day at home, he was still unable to get out of bed due to the pain that he was in, so my wife and I drove him to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Michael was admitted to Parkland Hospital on July 14th, and is still there as of today (August 19th).

During his time there

• they found an infection in his blood, kidneys, urine, spine, and gall bladder, which he is currently on IV antibiotics for.
• Part of his gall bladder was removed
• They found a Pulmonary Embolism
• Physical therapy has been limited to what he can do from the bed because he gets too dizzy when trying to stand up
• He has not stood up or been out of bed the entire time (over a month now)
• They have applied him for many Skilled Nursing Facilities, and he has been denied by all of them due to lack of funding

His future is still somewhat unclear, and anything you can offer is greatly appreciated. We also greatly appreciate prayers being offered up on his behalf.
