This GoFundMe is set up to help our son, Michael McEmery Jr.'s medical needs.
He faces complications from type 2 diabetes. After recently undergoing 3 surgeries in a week with a hospital stay of 11 days, he received the diagnosis that he was septic during his ER visit. The culprit was an ingrown hair that became a boil, causing a life-threatening infection. This is not his first experience with blood infections. Last year, he was injured at work, resulting in thumb amputation to the first knuckle. He was admitted to the ICU for 3 days and had a week-long stay in the hospital, followed by 6 months of IV therapy and a full year of antibiotics.
Recently, his threats were more dangerous and life-threatening.
Mike Jr. is a fighter who has made it home now, with his family and the promise of getting stronger to face 2 more future surgeries in the next 2 months. Mike is self-employed, a hard worker who started a roadside mechanic repair business with his cousin. This being said, he does not have healthcare insurance coverage to pay for his medical needs to get back on his feet. He has a wound vac and a temporary colostomy bag. These supplies, along with multiple prescriptions like antibiotics, diabetes medications, and pain management supplements, are essential. With his wife Tashina as his nurse and caregiver, she also works midnights at Amazon and mornings at Morris Nursing Home. They are doing everything they can think to do. His father and I help with caregiving and whatever we can do. But truthfully, they just need some temporary assistance, and they don't fit the criteria for subsidies or government benefits.
