My name is Michael McCain, and first I want to say I appreciate your interest in my very difficult situation and the urgency in my need of your support. Over the last year, I've been undergoing chemotherapy as well as other treatment after being diagnosed with stage 3 cancer by the name of Kaposi’s Sarcoma in March 2022. Unfortunately, due to treatment and it’s side effects, I have been unable to work and fell behind on my rent payments, and despite my landlord's professed willingness to work with me during this awful time, he instead only worked to get me evicted from my place here in Palm Springs, Ca knowing all the while what I was up against. As someone without family or a strong support system, it's been extremely challenging to navigate this path alone. On top of these struggles, and not having a vehicle, and relying solely on Ubers to make it to and from my frequent doctors' appointments and treatments has been financially challenging. While I'm doing my best to remain optimistic, the emotional toll is overwhelming, and I'm feeling deeply depressed about my circumstances. I feel like I've failed, but I do want very much to work towards overcoming this and pushing through the darkness. The trauma of being without a home, especially amid treatment, has been devastating, and without transportation, the challenges only increase. But I remain hopeful that with your support, I can face these challenges and ultimately overcome them. I am reluctant and ashamed to ask for help during this horrible time, but I would be immeasurably grateful for any support you can help me with. Thank you again for taking the time to read my story, and I deeply appreciate any kindness or generosity you guys can spare. Michael McCain
