Hi everyone, I’m Michael Elissa Smotherman, and I’m reaching out because I need your help. I’m raising my four-year-old grandson on my own, and I don’t receive any financial assistance for him.

Recently, I’ve been dealing with health issues — it started with COVID, then an ear infection, and now Bell’s Palsy. It’s been really irritating and difficult, and I’ve had to miss work. I used all my paid time off and had to pay out of pocket for medical bills—$350 for the ER, $75 for urgent care, and medications.

I had to use the money I had saved for my June mortgage to cover those bills. Now, my July mortgage payment is due, but I won’t have enough to pay it because I’m unpaid this week. I was expecting to get paid again on July 11th, but I’ll only be paid for one week, and I don’t have savings to cover the upcoming payment.

I live paycheck to paycheck, and without help, I’m worried about losing my home and stability for my grandson. I’ve set up a GoFundMe to help me stay afloat during this tough time.
