Help Michael in his Fight Against Cancer

My younger brother Michael Callisto has begun chemotherapy treatment and our family needs your help!

 

Michael was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of soft-tissue cancer, in early 2020 and immediately underwent 2 surgeries to remove an aggressive tumor. His recovery went well, and he pursued a dream of his to obtain his motorcycle license and bought his first bike!

 

This was all taking place 10,000km away in Japan, where Michael moved in 2018 to pursue a career teaching English as a Second Language. The immense distance and travel restrictions surrounding COVID19 have played a major impact in our family being able to physically support one another during these difficult times.

 

In July 2020, Michael married his sweetheart Risa, and they are expecting a baby this upcoming February 2022! Our family was overjoyed by the news and we are wishing them a healthy pregnancy.

 

However, in October 2021, the cancer had spread and tumors were discovered in his lungs. This new diagnosis brings on a new set of challenges, and we are asking for your support to help overcome them. His first round of Chemo started October 29, 2021 and he plans to follow treatment for several more weeks before being considered for lung surgery.

 

We ask for your help, so that Michael can have the best chances at recovery, and the possibility to keep pursuing his dreams, inspiring others and raising his daughter. Fundraising efforts will be focused on assisting with travel, accommodations, and treatment expenses – and any other support Michael and his new family will require along the way as he battles this cancer with courage and determination in Japan.
