Help Michael Hudson

Hello, my name is Ruth Hudson and as many of you know my father, Michael Hudson, has early onset Alzheimers. Michael was a minister in Cullowhee, NC before his diagnosis forced him to retire. My mother became his sole caretaker before she suddenly became ill and her health rapidly declined. I quickly became their mutual caretaker and the head of the household (I am an only child). My mother was diagnosed with ALS sixth months after her symptoms started and she passed away just days after the diagnosis. Before becoming ill she was the unfortunate victim of an online scam and lost a large amount of their savings. After my mother passed my father spent a year in a small nursing facility close to my house where they did not have the staff, patience, or understanding of dementia to give him proper care. The level of neglect alarmed me and the friends and parishioners of his who came to visit. We spent a long time trying to find him alternative care and in November of 2023 we found a facility that specializes in Alzheimers care. Everyone there cares about my father and he is treated with love and respect, kept occupied, and fed well. The only catch is that it is a private pay establishment and we don't have enough money to keep him there any longer. I love my father and I want him to have the best care and the happiest life he can for the remainder of the time he has left with us. His open-minded and genuinely accepting view of God and the Christian faith touched and changed my life for the better and I believe that everyone who knew him felt the same. No one in my family has ever been very good at asking for help but we could really use your help now, there is no amount too small. If you know my father, knew my father, know someone who inspired you, know someone who struggles with Alzheimers, know someone who has fallen victim to a scam or been thrown into a system that is understaffed and overworked I hope that you can find it in your heart to help us in this difficult time (even your prayers will do).
