Hi.
My name is Michael Henline and my parents introduced me to cemetery restoration and maintenance when I was just 10 years old. At the time I mostly dragged brush to a pile. We cleared the brush, filled sunken graves a bucket full of dirt at a time, sowed grass seed, and I mowed the cemetery all through my teen years.
In the 50 years since, I've recorded the burials in over a hundred cemeteries and photographed thousands of grave markers. Through extensive research I've discovered the identities of many people buried in unmarked graves or graves marked with simple fieldstone markers. In that same time period I've seen many cemeteries fall into disrepair, memorials fall over, get damaged by maintenance crews and just get 'lost'. My goal is to mark the unmarked graves in the cemetery where the journey began, and hopefully began getting the fallen markers up off the ground and back on their bases. But it's becomming clear that I'm going to run out of money and time before the task is completed. I'm hoping that maybe this account will help offset some of my expenses and allow me to continue to honor the memory of those who have left this world by marking their final resting place. The cemetery can be found on findagrave at this URL https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2214310/adkison-cemetery
The photo is my GG-Uncle Hense Deel. I finally got to mark his grave more than 70 years after his death. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/24850953/richardson-hensley-deel
