My younger brother Michael Heitkamp was critically injured during his collegiate hockey game last weekend in Minot, ND.

Michael was hit and the opponent’s skate cut into my brother’s head, resulting in a skull fracture. By the Grace of God, his doctor in Bismarck, ND reviewed his CT scans that were reviewed in Minot, ND (thought everything was okay) and told Michael/his girlfriend to drive to the ER immediately, as he had a sizable broken skull fragment that was pushing into his brain and required emergency surgery. I know my parents won’t ask for help which is why I am doing this. I am graciously asking you to consider donating whatever you can towards his hospital/emergency bill that will not be covered by insurance. The out of pocket cost will be a hefty burden on my parents that they would take on again a million times over to make sure Michael was okay. Michael’s life has changed overnight, but he is strong and will get through this.
